Kids2Kids - Who's My Neighbor?
Header

Family Village Farm was started in 1969 by Dr. Pauline King in a village called Katpadi (Kut-pa-DEE), India. Many of the children who come to the Family Village Farm are from extremely poor families who cannot afford to support them. Some of the children are orphans. They have no parents and no other family member who can take care of them. The children at Family Village Farm live in cottages with adults who take care of them. These adults care for the children just like their own parents and grandparents would do, if they could.

The Family Village Farm children go to school every day. Some of them walk and others ride buses to school. They love to play volleyball, basketball, climb on jungle gyms, jump rope and play other games together. They love to dance and sing. They like to do many of the same things that you like to do. They also help take care of their homes and they do their homework. Just like you!

As the children grow they learn how to tend crops and fruit trees. They are taught to cook and to sew. Some children help to make their own school uniforms. When the children are older they may go to college or they may stay at Family Village Farm and help to run the Family Village Farm bakery. Raja can lead you to some pictures of the children at Family Village Farm.
