There are many summer camp experiences – church camps, sports camps, Boy Scout and Girl Scout camps, computer camps. The list goes on and on. I wonder what kind of camp you like to attend?

There are lots and lots of kids who would like to go to camp but their parents can’t afford to send them. Some of these kids live in big cities and have never been out in the woods. They live in places where there are very few trees. They may not have ever climbed a tree.

At the DuBois (pronounced “DoBoai”) Center, a UCC church camp in southern Illinois, kids from big cities get to learn about God’s love while they take hikes, swim, paddle canoes, climb trees, hug trees, and even ride horses! They get to make crafty things and sit around camp fires roasting marshmallows and singing silly camp songs.

The staff of the DuBois Center, many of whom are volunteers, are committed to providing the very best Christian camp experience they can. They do not want to turn away one single child. However, sometimes they have to because there is not enough money for scholarships. You can help the staff of the DuBois Center give kids a chance to spend time in a loving community where they can be safe and play outdoors, experience God’s creation, do a little tree climbing, and make life-long friends.

What you can do:

Learn more about DuBois Center

Pray for the staff and volunteers that they are able to give every child a safe and fun camp experience.

Pray for the big city kids who want to come to the DuBois Center and experience God’s beautiful creation.

Send supplies:

• Health Stuff
  band aids, triple antibiotic ointment, calamine lotion, antiseptic wipes
• Play Stuff
  playground balls, beach balls, and water toys
• Craft Stuff
  tempera paints, scissors, glue, beads, embroidery thread, markers, craft sticks

Raise money for:

• Camp Scholarships
  $385 will send one kid to camp for one full week of tree hugging
• Care of the horses
  $20 will provide care for one horse for one week
